Buyers arrive here to work out duty and cooling-off rules, then ask who should act for them. This is how those requests are passed on.
Who receives requests
Licensed conveyancers and property lawyers who are entitled to act in the state the request comes from. We ask for a licence or practising certificate number and check it against the regulator's public register before any request is sent. If the register does not confirm it, nothing is sent.
What a request contains
- The state or territory of the property.
- What the person needs: buying, selling, both, or a contract review before signing.
- Their name and contact details, given with their consent for exactly this purpose.
What we will not do
- Publish a fee range for your work that we cannot source, or imply a market rate.
- Rank practitioners by what they pay us, or present a paid position as an editorial recommendation.
- Sell contact details to anyone who is not entitled to act on the transaction.
- Send the same request to an unlimited list of firms.
Why buyers arrive already informed
The duty figures here come from the revenue office schedules, with the source and check date on every number. People who have used the calculator tend to ask better questions and have realistic expectations about the largest cost in their purchase, which is not your fee.
